Well that is a day that we are not going to get back – 4 October

First stop – roadside P bay ( and there are plenty of these along the major roads) for a photo stop – Ruthven Barracks ca 1719 to garrison English troops charged with putting down the first of the Jacobite “insurrections” and destroyed by Jacobite forces after Culloden – 1746

Next stop Pitlochry while we argued with car hire co about tyre repairs – we are up to 3 now after 2 on Skye 😖 and then waited for the tyre surgeon to come from Glasgow – 2 hours. Poor bugger then had to make the return journey.

Optimistically we aimed to walk at The Hermitage – ha ha the car park was seething and we figured that even if we found a bay the walk would be far from enjoyable – bugger that is one I was really looking forward to – sigh!

Things are desperate when the best we can do for a photo stop is an 18th C bridge 😊

Kinkell Bridge ca. 1793

On to Drummond Castle and Gardens in the misty rain – arrived at 2:59, last entry at 3:00 👏..one that I (Sue) was really looking forward to😏. Nowhere near long enough.

The gardens are described as the best example of formal terraced gardens in Scotland.

Lots of views of the castle and gardens to make up for missing other locations!!!

The Tower House from the late 15thC
The 17thC mansion

And the gardens date to the 1630s and like the mansion reconstructed in the 19thC

Autumn colours on the maples

On to Falkirk with a quick hello to Barron and Duke on the way past.
