Éire – 5 September

Somewhat more relaxing day today – in and around Enniskillen.

By chance today was Brassfest – a showcase/competition for brass ensembles from across Counties Fermanagh and Tyrone.

The rest of the morning prior to a cruise and visit to Devenish Island on Lough Erne was spent wandering the streets . .

Devenish Island – the site of an Augustinian Monastery founded by St Molaisse ca 560CE

Round towers are dotted throughout Ireland, designed to store monastery treasures and provide safe refuge against Viking attacks. This is described as one the best preserved.
