Overnight cruising from Budapest and woke to this sunrise . . .

E-bikes for hire – HvK would shudder at the thought (he was a Porsche driver and very fast one by all accounts!)
Reminders of the war are everywhere – memorial to the victims of World War 2 – the “obelisk” inscribed with an exhortation to not forget and by your actions for it not to happen again . . .
Home/stables to the beloved Lipizanners
Life looks tough for these guys
Hofburg – a museum to Sisi – Emp.Franz Josef’s beloved Kaiserin Elizabeth
I do hope the coffee was worth the wait . . . .
Kohlnmarkt – where you come to buy the brand names – and coffee!!
Imagine these two angels side by side and you have a portal for an apothek – one day Apple!!

Another ingenious timepiece – check out the time above the “dial”
St Stephan (Istvan in Budapest) must have been important in these parts
Sunday service

And the afternoon was spent under the threat of rain at Schonbrunn Palace – the summer palace of Maria Theresia (the mother of Marie Antoinette) – she definitely wore the pants in that royal household. Was it intended to rival Versailles – if it was, it fell way short. A fascinating visit nevertheless with insights into the lives of the Hapsburgs and the family intrigues.
